This course is an introduction to fundamental concepts and applications of computing, designed for students with no prior training in computer use. Topics include: summary of personal and business uses of computers, from micros to mainframes; use of application software for word processing, spreadsheets and data base management; survey of computer and communications systems' hardware components; development and use of system and application software; characteristics of high-level programming languages; accessing the Internet; and social issues.
